SOLOMON BEACH

LOCATION:  St. John
HIKE STARTS:  NPS Visitor's Center
HIKE ENDS:  Solomon Beach
TOTAL DISTANCE:  2.2 Miles
HIKE TYPE:  In and Out, Roundtrip Hike
HIKE DIFFICULTY:  Moderate
TRAILS USED:  Lind Point Trail
TRAIL TRAFFIC:  Light to Moderate
TRIP TYPE:  Day Hike
MANAGEMENT:  Virgin Islands National Park

HIGHLIGHTS:  Most tourists that visit St. John head for Trunk Bay and we planned to do the same, until we talked to our dive master on a boat trip to Virgin Gorda.  She convinced us to avoid the crowds at Trunk Bay and to hike to some of the remote beaches on St. John.  We decided on Solomon Beach, a secluded bay that is accessed by boat or via a short hike starting behind the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center.  The snorkeling is beautiful along the rocky points of this beach and the hiking trail continues to Honeymoon Beach, one of Caneel Bay's seven famous beaches.
